Drumheads
There are hundreds of different drumheads on the market. The most typical choices for metal would be 2-ply heads or thick 1-ply heads. The kick drum head should have some type of dampening in of itself. It will reduce the amount of needed muffling inside the kick. It is also a good idea to use some type of "patch" in the spot where the beater hits. It will give more punch and durability. The resonant heads are usually thinner than the batter heads.
